Paul Dew is a Melbourne based artist exploring life balances through sculptural constructions and installations of a figurative, industrial nature. Fragmented forms are contrasted in dark and light silhouette to describe activities in and out of balance. Combinations of forms that are both separating and coming together in a negotiation between valued personal time and time lost through the numerous obligations dividing life. Tensions, overloads and fractured experiences reflect contemporary living and the search of a work-life balance. These experiences often silently witnessed by the symbiotic creatures living alongside us. Industrial materials of structure and surface are crafted in silhouette and then assembled to describe activities and outcomes of being out of balance and in motion. The implied movement a counterbalance and response to life's constraints.
