Paul Dew is a Melbourne based artist exploring life balances through sculptural constructions and installations which are both figurative and industrial. Fragmented forms are contrasted in dark and light silhouette to describe activities out of balance. Combinations of forms separating and coming together in a negotiation between time more valued and the time lost through the numerous obligations dividing life. Tensions, overloads and fractured experiences reflect contemporary living and the search of a work-life balance. Experiences often silently witnessed by the symbiotic creatures living alongside us. Industrial materials of structure and surface are crafted in silhouette and are assembled to describe activities and outcomes of unbalance, counterbalance and movement in response to life's constraints.
